The Pile of Logs become our Home

It's been a slow job for a week putting the cedar shingle tiles on the roof. But it is a lovely traditional roof covering.
Here you can see the Red Cedar roofing shingles going on.

At the same time the stud work is going up inside, creating our chosen layout of rooms.
Approaching Christmas, its time for the services to go in. This is first fix stage for the plumbing and wiring.

What you see here is the under floor heating being installed. It will be covered by a screed hopefully by Christmas.
The under floor heating pipes are installed and ready for the screed to be laid on Friday 20th December.

Friday morning, the screed has arrived and the floor is being laid over the central heating pipes.
Due to the wet weather whilst the logs went up, they became quite dirty. Simon has the job of pressure washing the outer log walls prior to them being stained with preserver.

The outside logs are being treated with a microporous preserver with a light oak coloured stain. It looks a bit bright as it is going on, but it will soften down as it soaks in.
Inside the sitting room, Simon has almost finished cladding the internal walls with pine.

Now the stain has been applied to the walls and the scaffolding has been taken away. The windows and doors have to be fitted correctly, rebating them into the log walls and sealing them.
Simon has just started preparing two of the window recesses to accept the double glazed units.

Meanwhile inside Stuart is busy finishing the walls, doors and door fittings.
Here the master bedroom doors are fitted to the built in wardrobe and bedroom door. It is starting to look like a home inside now.

The windows and doors are now sealed and secure. The oil fired under floor heating has been fired up and is working. Currently the inside is a 'no go area', the inner walls are being sprayed with 3 coats of flame retardant coating. The chemical used is pungent, but  soon the smell will subside.
The interior walls have been sprayed and now it is time to lay the grey slate flooring.

Meanwhile Simon is creating the base for the decking that will go around the house. It's cold but dry.
The framework for the decking is quite a big job.

The decking handrail is in position waiting for the decking surface to be laid.
Meanwhile the entrance way is being created by Colin. This will be a tarmac parking area with access to our driveway via a pair of timber estate gates. One day !   Soon !  Please.....

Inside the house the kitchen has started to take shape. Now its becoming a home.

             Wot no cooker ?

Now this fine figure of a man is Colin. He's always smiling bless him. Today he is creating the area at the rear of our cabin that will our patio.

The finished level Colin is creating makes it look more like a home and less like a building site. Well done Colin !!!
The rear of the house complete, Colin has moved to the front, where he is creating a tarmac parking area. Well it's just scalpings at the moment, but hopefully if the weather stays this fine it will be tarmac by the end of the week.

Meanwhile the kitchen is finished. We love it.

Today the tarmac base covering has arrived and the guys are hurrying to get it down before the forecasted heavy rain arrives.
